Born in Austin, Minnesota 1958,
currently residing on Naxos Island in Greece.
I am an abstract painter using mostly mixed media. From 1992, I began painting in a test group of 5 'women who were not artists'. From my experience through art therapy, art is who we are. My perspective on painting and art in general is that we are all artists.
Art is an imperative. Without it we can never truly examine our own circumstances. "Left unviewed, art languishes. Left without art to view, so does humankind". There are many who recognize the gift to the world that every artist has to offer. There are many who endeavor to do whatever they can to ensure those gifts are received by a grateful public. I have been fortunate to share my work in galleries world wide..
To stifle the artist’s voice is to let silence win. Nature is not so silent and neither is what the artist has to offer. Art is essential. It is what fills the space in-between making sense of a chaotic universe.
From 2000 I have been splitting my time between Naxos Island and a few months a year in the US, in NYC, Palm Springs, California and Minnesota. Since 1992 I have been painting in various places and countries, spending several months in each - to feel it inside out - "the essence of it's bones", whilst keeping a foot in the US to see family and work on projects there. Painting is an expression that lives my life.
Artists require space not only to work, but space for their
imagination's time there.
